Hello and welcome to my website! I’ve been producing and engineering music for 30+ years, for artists such as Frank Black & the Catholics / Pixies, The Breeders / Kim Deal, Jello Biafra, Andre Williams, Greg Dulli / The Twilight Singers / The Gutter Twins, Anders Osborne, Dash Rip Rock, Maggie Koerner, The Imagination Movers, Eric Lindell, and hundreds of regional acts in the New Orleans area.
Born and raised in New Orleans, I grew up in a musical family. At age 15 I co-founded Clones at Play, a band of energetic teens writing original music with a rowdy, devoted following. We became staples in New Orleans clubs such as Tipitina’s, The Howlin’ Wolf, House of Blues and Jimmy’s. While recording at the famed Sea-Saint Studios, I took an interest in engineering and soon began working as an engineer at Side One Studios.
From 1997 to 1999 I co-owned and managed Magazine Sound Recording in New Orleans, where I produced my first national release: In The Night by Famous Monsters, a 3-piece monster-themed surf-rock band on Bong Load Records led by Sean Yseult. During this time I was writing and recording with Clones bandmate Michael Schafer in Bobby Adams, a sardonic yet lighthearted rock band.
In 1999 I attended the Los Angeles Recording Workshop and soon began working in recording studios around Los Angeles, including O’Henry Studios, Stagg Street Studio, and the iconic Sound City Studios, where I worked as assistant engineer on albums by Ben Harper, The Go-Gos, A Perfect Circle, Rufus Wainwright, Ry Cooder, Betty Blowtorch, BT, Badly Drawn Boy, New Found Glory, Fu Manchu, Autolux, Vanilla Ice, The Campfire Girls, 40 Below Summer, and many others.
At Sound City I met Black Francis. in 2001, and left Sound City to record several albums his band Frank Black and the Catholics (including Black Letter Days and Show Me Your Tears) with the FB&theC’s Mobile Recording Studio. I also toured Europe and the USA mixing stage monitors with the Catholics and later the Pixies for their 2004 reunion tour. I toured with the Pixies mixing stage sound all over Europe, the Americas, Japan and Iceland.
From 2007 to 2021 I was the General Manager and Chief Engineer at Studio in the Country. l. I was the engineer for countess sessions, including several songs on the Grammy-nominated Grand Isle by Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys. Other artists who recorded @ SiTC during my tenure as manager included Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Cyril Neville, Allen Toussaint, Rose Windows, The Revivalists, and Beach House (their platinum certified track “Space Song”, as well as their gold-certified album Depression Cherry).
While working at Studio in the Country I attended Loyola University College of Law part-time, where I studied entertainment law. I also took several courses in international law in Budapest, Vienna, and Greece.
During a weekend off in Budapest I bought a cheap couchette ticket on an overnight train to Brasov, Romania, where I toured Bran Castle, the town of Brasov, and the village of Miklosvar, Transylvania, where I stayed alone in an empty half-renovated castle situated on a large estate owned by Count Tibor Kalonky, inspiring the Transylvania Music Company. I’ve released several albums on vinyl and CDs and all are streaming worldwide.
